    • come on now! they saw this ship coming from dozens of miles away. this destroyer had state-of-the-art radar that could hear a dolphin fart at distance. they had plenty of time to distance themselves from the ship after attempting to contact the cargo ship's captain.

take a look at that picture

that kind of damage would not be caused by a collision with a container ship

      container ships are massive...extremely heavy

the whole container ship story is a cover up for something else

It was a smaller than massive Container ship.
She took a hell of blow, probably got the keel, three compartments flooded. She looks hogged down to starboard in the photo, like she's twisted.

    • Huge fuck up. The idiots driving that boat are fucked.

There is no way they couldn't see a ship that massive coming.

If the captain survives his injuries he will be fired. Those on the bridge at the time will be fired. Likely the officer and chief petty officer in charge of the CIC at that time will be fired.

Captain as head of the boat or rank?

You squids are weird with rank.

Cmdr fuckhead was the first evacuated.

    • Meanwhile the cargo ship just needs a few dented bits of steel straightened and it's good to go.

The captain of a naval vessel is addressed as "Captain", whether he/she is actually a Navy captain or not.

The captain was evacuated due to injuries.

boat accidents aren't like car accidents

objects on the water do not stop immediately they keep going

a ship with as much mass as a container ship would have plowed right through a destroyer, not made a hole like what is visible in the picture

my guess would be that the destroyer was hit by a missile and they are covering it up to avoid a war or some sort of conflict escalation

No, the port bow of the container ship is the smoking gun.

You think that the container ship stopped moving after colliding with the destroyer?

You think it's more plausible that the destroyer was rammed by a slow moving cargo ship while in hostile waters?

Further evidence of a cover up. Commander of the vessel would never have been evacuated ahead of injured sailors or while some sailors were missing.

He will be "debriefed" and coached on an official story.

The most seriously injured would be evacuated first, regardless of rank.
