    • Diversity Advocates Disappointed That New Harvard President is a White Male
      https://legalinsurrection.com/2018/02/diversity-advocates-disappointed-that-new-harvard-president-is-a-white-male/

Harvard University's selection of Lawrence Bacow as its new president has been met with disappointment and frustration from those who hoped to see a person of color in the post for the first time.

With the former MIT chancellor tapped to replace Drew Faust in summer 2018, it has been pointed out on social media that Harvard will now have had more presidents named "Larry" than it has had women or people of color combined.

Harvard's first "President Larry" was early 20th-century legal scholar Abbott Lawrence Lowell, followed up by Lawrence Summers from 2001 to 2006.

"I really can't stop laughing at the fact that this isn't even Harvard's first president who's a white male economist named Larry. lolsob." tweeted doctoral student Nadira Farah Foley.

Sara Goldrick-Rab, a self-described scholar-activist at Temple University, slammed Harvard for having "once again ... doubled down on white male privilege."

    • Chinese Government Gave Money to Georgetown Chinese Student Group
Founded in the early 2000s, the Georgetown University Chinese Students and Scholars Association hosts an annual Chinese New Year gala, organizes occasional academic forums, and helps Chinese students on campus meet and support each other. The group has also accepted funding from the Chinese government amounting to roughly half its total annual budget, according to documents and emails obtained by Foreign Policy.

The total sum may not be large, but the documents confirm a link between the Chinese government and Chinese student organizations on American campuses that is often suspected but difficult to verify.

A budget request submitted by the Georgetown University CSSA to the school's graduate student government in September 2011 disclosed that the group received $800 each semester that school year from the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. The group requested an additional $750 each semester from the university on top of the money it received from the embassy.

The disclosure of Chinese government funding came after a question on the budget request form asking if the club received any outside sources of funding. The group said that the government funding was used to host events, such as the annual Chinese New Year party.

The funding has not been previously made public; copies of the documents were provided to FP by a source concerned about Chinese Communist Party influence on university campuses.

The FBI shares that concern. Yesterday, at an annual open hearing at the Senate intelligence committee, in response to a question about the national security risk posted by Chinese international students, FBI Director Chris Wray said, "The use of nontraditional collectors, especially in the academic setting - whether it's professors, scientists, students - we see in almost every field office that the FBI has around the country."

    • Colorado Teacher Charged With Child Abuse, Allegedly Forced Boy To Stand For Pledge Of Allegiance
      http://denver.cbslocal.com/2018/02/13/child-abuse-pe-teacher/

A Boulder Valley School District teacher now faces child abuse and assault charges for allegedly forcing a child to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Karen Smith, a physical education teacher at Angevine Middle School in Lafayette, was placed on leave earlier this month.

Police say on Feb. 1, Smith grabbed a boy by his jacket, lifting him to his feet, and took him out of class.

A parent waiting to pick her child up at Angevine recently told CBS4 that her daughter knows Smith as a "strict" teacher but has never had an issue.

      Kids these days.

    • Bronx principal probed after creating hostile environment for black teachers, students: 'She's a racist'
I and 4 other friends quit high school because we weren't learning anything. The Blacks turned the place into a zoo. The principal was a Black lady always walking around with an entourage of "people of color" Hour upon hour lost from elementary on up because of Black interruptions. Blacks are highly intimidating and violent therefore alpha's from other ethnic groups feel challenged and have to become more aggressive in such an atmosphere. They need to be separated not integrated.

    • Texas school assignment has students draw themselves as slaves
An mother in Austin, Tex. is upset that Four Points Middle School sent her daughter home this week with an assignment to "Draw a picture of yourself as a slave..."

"This is a learning tool that is not acceptable under any circumstances," stated Tonya Jennings.

The assignment is in reference to discussions of "slave life in Texas in the 1850's," according to a picture of the assignment sent to CBS Austin by Jennings.

Upon learning of the assignment, Jennings husband went to the school Friday to discuss the issue with administrators.

A spokesperson sent a statement to CBS Austin Saturday night, explaining that the state "asks students to be able to identify points of view from the historical context surrounding an event and the frame of reference that influenced the participants.".

    • Bronx teacher sparks outrage for cruel slavery lesson
Kids and parents say this Bronx teacher needs a lesson - in racism.

Middle School 118 teacher Patricia Cummings shocked and traumatized children in her social studies classes when she singled out black students and told them to lie on the floor for a lesson on U.S. slavery - and then stepped on their backs to show them what slavery felt like, students and a staffer said.

Students said Cummings, who is white, pulled the insensitive stunt in multiple seventh-grade classes as part of a unit on the infamous Middle Passage, in which Africans were kidnapped and brought to America as part of the slave trade.

Kids and adults in Cummings' school, where the student body is 81% black and Hispanic and just 3% white, were horrified by the offensive lessons they said occurred roughly two weeks ago.

"It was a lesson about slavery and the Triangle Trade," said one of Cummings' students, who asked to remain anonymous.

"She picked three of the black kids," the boy said, and instructed them to get on the floor in front of the class. "She said, 'You see how it was to be a slave?' She said, 'How does it feel?' "

    • I have figured out so-called Indigo People!
It just dawned on me that these highly skilled, highly attractive and highly sensitivie people of the AB- blood type are in fact proto humans that God put here before beginning of time! As dictated by genetics, it is possible to give birth and rise to a Indigo if people of certain branches had an off-spring.

The Indigo is what some cults have called as "demi-gods" (half man, half god).

Their purpose is to re-establish everything in a hurry if cataclysmic event took place and wiped out much of humanity, culture and bio-spehre.

They could do it - they have the technology!

    • In response to Wednesday's school shooting in Florida, high school students and teachers across the country are planning walkouts this spring to push Congress to act on guns.

On Twitter, students used the hashtags #NationalSchoolWalkout, #April20 and #April20Walkout to plan mass boycotts on the anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting on April 20, 1999, as well as a separate walkout on March 14. Thousands have signed a petition from the Twitter account "National School Walkout." The goal: to make Congress listen to a population that, for the most part, doesn't have voting rights.

"Nothing has changed since Columbine," reads the petition on change.org. "Let us start a movement that lets the government know the time for change is now."

It's unclear where, exactly, the movement started, and there's a separate school walkout planned for March 14, which was circulated by the Twitter account "Women's March Youth." That walkout will last for 17 minutes, to honor the 17 victims in the Parkland, Florida, shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

    • Georgetown University leaders have done much in recent times to make amends for the institution's involvement in slavery, but after a cadre of slave descendants recently said those efforts are not enough - they still want cash - campus leaders have pledged to continue to work "toward reconciliation."

"Following many conversations and dialogue with members of the Descendant community, the University and the Jesuits earlier this month reached out to members of the Descendant community to propose a framework for long-term dialogue, partnership and collaboration," a campus representative told The College Fix in an email.

"Georgetown and the Jesuits are committed to working with Descendants in a process that recognizes the terrible legacy of slavery and promotes racial justice," the statement added. "Georgetown has been working to address its historical relationship to slavery and will continue to do so."

"... We believe that this kind of collaborative, forward-looking approach is the best path toward reconciliation and responding to the challenges of racial injustice today."

    • Two days after enduring a horrific school shooting, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and parents of the victims have one request for President Donald Trump: stay away.

"In my opinion I do not want Trump here at all," Ameer Hussain, a 15-year-old freshman at the school told The Daily Beast.

Trump is scheduled to be at his resort in Mar-a-Lago this weekend. And reports on Friday said that he would be paying a visit to Parkland, Florida - the site of the shooting that claimed 17 lives on Wednesday while wounding 15 others - to, in his words, "meet with some of the bravest people on earth."

It's common for presidents to visit the sites of national tragedies and, while there, meet with the affected. But Trump is neither a conventional president nor one whom many people in Parkland particularly want to see. Hussain imagined that Trump would "use this event to make himself look better politically."

Some 42,000 students attend UCLA, and whether many of them think "toxic masculinity" is a pressing concern is unclear, if the attendance at a recent campus forum on the subject is any indication.

When the UCLA Intergroup Relations Program recently hosted an event to allow the campus community to discuss "toxic masculinity," 10 students showed up.

The discussion, held Tuesday, was billed as a way to allow students a chance to discuss "the silence surrounding toxic masculinity, emotional repression, locker room talk, and broader social norms," according to organizers.

    • A former Bronx phys-ed teacher claims he was smeared by students and later canned by administrators because he's white, according to Manhattan court papers.

Andrew Alderman, of East Meadow, LI, was fired from PS 306 last August for alleged verbal abuse - including calling one student a "bitch" and telling kids in a class that they were statistically likely to "end up either pregnant or in a gang."

But Alderman says he was the target of a retaliation campaign by his accusers. "The students who made the allegations . . . had been referred by Mr. Alderman for discipline and thus had a personal vendetta against Mr. Alderman," court papers claim.

Alderman's suit claims the Morris Heights school violated protocols by interviewing only a handful of students, without independent witnesses.
