    • Trump rebound has Democrats fretting over midterms
House Democrats are heading into the throes of the election haunted by many of the same problems that dogged them in 2016: a Trump-dominated news cycle, a message that's struggling to break through and sharp divisions within the party about how to fix it.

Now many Democrats say they're watching nervously as polls start to trend in Republicans' favor - and worry they're witnessing the beginning of a slow-motion train wreck that they have no idea how to stop.

    • Conservatives urge Donald Trump to grant pardons in Russia probe
After months of criticizing special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, President Donald Trump's supporters are issuing increasingly bold calls for presidential pardons to limit the investigation's impact.

"I think he should be pardoning anybody who's been indicted and make it clear that anybody else who gets indicted would be pardoned immediately," said Frederick Fleitz, a former CIA analyst and senior vice president at the conservative Center for Security Policy.

The pleas for mercy mainly extend to the four former Trump aides who have already been swept up in the Russia probe: former campaign manager Paul Manafort, former deputy campaign manager Rick Gates, former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos. But they don't stop there.

"It's kind of cruel what's going on right now and the president should put these defendants out of their misery," said Larry Klayman, a conservative legal activist. "I think he should pardon everybody - and pardon himself."

    • California Democrat, and #MeToo activist, allegedly urged staffers to play 'spin the bottle': report
A California Democrat who was featured in Time magazine's Person of the Year issue for her role in the anti-sexual harassment "#MeToo" movement allegedly urged staffers to play the grade-school classic, "spin the bottle," after a night of heavy drinking at a fundraiser, Politico reported Sunday.

David John Kernick, 38, who worked in Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia's office for five months in 2014, filed a formal complaint with the state, claiming that he was dismissed from his job for questioning the game.

Kernick told Politico that they played the game after an evening of heavy drinking. Garcia sat on a floor in a hotel room with about six people that included staff, he told the magazine.

"It was definitely uncomfortable,'' Kernick said. "But I realized it's different for a man than for a woman. ... You know it's inappropriate, but at the same time you may wonder, 'How many women do you work for that act like that?' You think ... 'Maybe she's just really cool.'''

Last week, Garcia was hit with fresh allegations of misconduct in her office, including frequent discussions about sex and alcohol consumption at the Capitol.

    • White Nationalist Leader Exposed: Never Servered in Iraq as he Claimed!
None of that justifies White genocide.

The Dalai Lama didn't serve in Iraq yet he understands why wiping out entire cultures with mass immigration for "progress" is wrong.

It's too late in the game to cry about some bullshit about alleged stolen valour.

      Grow up.

Genocide is wrong & no fake news can justify it.

    • Nashville mayor's ex-lover outpaced other cops in overtime pay: report
The police officer with whom Nashville Mayor Megan Barry recently admitted having an affair received far more overtime pay in recent years than other members of Barry's security detail, according to a published report.

In fact, Sgt. Rob Forrest received $53,000 more in overtime pay from July 2015 to January of this year than the other four officers combined, the Tennessean reported.

In all, Forrest received $173,843.13 in overtime for that period, the newspaper reported - a steep increase from the amount of overtime pay he received during the tenure of Barry's predecessor, Mayor Karl Dean, according to the report.

Barry, a Democrat, was elected mayor of Tennessee's capital city in September 2015. She disclosed that her affair with Forrest began in the spring of 2016, but she has not said when it ended, the newspaper reported.

David Raybin, an attorney for Forrest, would not comment when asked by the Tennessean whether Forrest - as leader of the detail -- scheduled himself to work more overtime to further his affair with the mayor.

Earlier this month, the Tennessean reported that Barry recommended Forrest's daughter for a city job.

    • Official no longer employed at volunteer agency after reports of racist comments
An official at the Corporation for National and Community Service is no longer with the agency that oversees federal volunteer efforts weeks after reports that he verbally harassed an Uber driver.

Daniel Pollack served as a senior adviser in the agency, which handles federal volunteer programs like AmeriCorps and the Social Innovation Fund. A spokeswoman for the agency confirmed to CNN on Friday that Pollack is no longer employed at the agency.

CNN's KFile reported last month that Pollack had been banned from using Uber over anti-Muslim and racially-charged comments that he allegedly made to a driver.

Pollack worked directly under Carl Higbie, a Trump-appointed official who resigned last month as chief of external affairs for the agency after CNN reported that he had made racist, sexist and anti-Muslim comments on a radio show.

    • Goldman Sachs CEO gives Donald Trump credit for the economy, says it's better than if Hillary Clinton won
The US economy is better off under President Donald Trump that it would have been under Hillary Clinton, according to Lloyd Blankfein, the CEO of Goldman Sachs.

"If the president didn't win and Hillary Clinton won ... I bet you the economy is higher today than it otherwise would be," Blankfein said in an interview with CNN's Christine Romans.

Blankfein had backed Clinton's bid for the White House.

Two days before Trump's inauguration, he linked Wall Street's newfound confidence to Trump, but fell short of giving him full credit. "I think one of the reasons why the election had such a dramatic effect is because it was drawing people in the direction that it was already heading," Blankfein told CNBC from the 2017 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Economic growth has remained strong since Trump took office in November 2016, and hit his 3% target in two quarters last year. Business leaders' confidence has been bolstered by corporate tax cuts and pledges by the Trump administration to roll back regulations.

And now, there's concern about higher inflation, partly because of the new administration's fiscal stimulus.

    • Donald Trump Jr. expressed his approval on Tuesday morning for a far-right smear campaign against students who survived last week's massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Since the shooting, which killed 17 people at their school, the students have become outspoken advocates for gun control and fierce critics of the NRA.

On his Twitter account, Trump Jr. "liked" a story suggesting one of the surviving students, David Hogg, is "running cover" for the FBI. The tweet endorsed by Trump Jr. is inaccurate. It claims that Hogg's father "works as an FBI agent at the Miami field office" when in fact Hogg's father is retired.

The underlying article liked by Trump Jr. is a cesspool of conspiracy theories, concluding that Hogg's advocacy is an FBI plot "only looking to curb YOUR Constitutional rights and INCREASE their power. We've seen similar moves by them many times over. This is just another disgusting example of it."

Trump Jr. also liked a similar article on TruePundit.com. "The kid who has been running his mouth about how Donald Trump and the GOP are teaming to help murder high school kids by upholding the Second Amendment is the son of an FBI agent," states the article, which does not have a byline.

    • Donald Trump reportedly played golf as victims of the Florida school shooting were laid to rest at funerals just 45 miles away.

The President arrived at his Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach on Monday morning.

Less than an hour's drive away, grieving friends and relatives filed into services for 14-year-old Alaina Petty and 15-year-old Luke Hoyer.

Mr Trump has previously met some of the victims of the massacre at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 students and staff were killed.

    • "A motion by Michael Flynn to withdraw his guilty plea based on government misconduct is likely in the works," declared The Federalist's Margot Cleveland on Friday.

Judge Emmet G. Sullivan issued a so-called "Brady" order on Friday in United States v. Flynn that Cleveland, a lawyer, says "likely" stands as an indication that the former Trump national security advisor is looking to withdraw his guilty plea based on government misconduct.

Flynn was charged with lying to the FBI during the Mueller probe on November 30. The former Trump advisor pleaded guilty on December 1 before federal judge Rudolph Contreras, but less than one week later, the case was reassigned under Judge Sullivan.

"On the surface, Friday's order seems inconsequential, but in comparing the December 12, 2017, version to the February 16, 2018, version, one substantive change stood out," explained Cleveland.

    • The Yale psychiatrist who briefed lawmakers about President Trump's mental health has penned an op-ed reporting him as a "dangerous leader."

Dr. Bandy X. Lee did so after Trump called for people to report threats in the wake of the Florida school shooting.

"We have an analogous situation with a dangerous leader who has access to far more lethal weapons than an AR-15," Lee wrote in an op-ed for the New York Daily News Monday. "Following the President's words, I am reporting again to authorities, both as a citizen and a mental health professional, and making a record here."

Lee spoke with a group of Democratic lawmakers and one GOP senator in December about Trump's mental state. She has not examined Trump, but has repeatedly questioned his mental states.
