• GREAT news for Hewlett Packard - Meg Whitman stepping down as CEO
      https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-21/hp-enterprise-ceo-whitman-to-step-down-neri-to-replace-her

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. said Chief Executive Officer Meg Whitman is stepping down after six years leading the company.

Whitman, one of the most high-profile women in the technology industry, will remain on the board, Hewlett Packard Enterprise said Tuesday in a statement. She will be succeeded Feb. 1 by President Antonio Neri.

Whitman, 61, took over Hewlett-Packard Co. after it suffered a series of missed targets amid rising competition under her predecessor, Leo Apotheker. She set about slashing jobs and dramatically resetting investors' expectations for how well the company could perform at a time when customers were adopting cloud computing services HP was ill-equipped to provide. After initially opposing efforts to break up the company, a Silicon Valley institution once known for its innovation, she eventually agreed to split Hewlett Packard's PC and printing units from higher-margin businesses aimed at corporate computing.

We used to do the team scrum meetings but called them morning reports

They were kind of fun because we drank coffee bullshited alot, sometimes vented, and kept everyone informed on what was going on. It was nice to see the whole team and socialize a bit.

Course it easy all men and the division leader really know his stuff so it works turn into a graduate school lecture quality teaching session on occasions.

Now they'd never let you free form an hour each morning. And the talk got pretty non professional and locker room. That's back when at least one small part of your work day was fun.

What do you think? Woould you invest in a business like this in the future?

Should I put more money in it?

      https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2017/10/15/tesla-firings/765954001/

Tesla has reportedly fired hundreds of employees amid signs that the company is off to a slow start in manufacturing its crucial Model 3 electric car.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based automaker and tech company dismissed several hundred workers, according to multiple reports, including an initial story by the Mercury News. Reuters also reported the news.

The dismissals occurred after what Tesla described as "an annual performance review" of its more than 33,000 employees. The company did not provide specifics.

    • Critics blast Facebook's Zuckerberg for 'magical' virtual reality tour of Puerto Rico devastation
      https://www.gq.com/story/virtual-zuckerberg-puerto-rico

On Monday, Mark Zuckerberg took a potentially neat promo idea and made it way more uncomfortable than it needed to be. He and Facebook's head of social VR, Rachel Franklin, donned Oculus Rift headsets to tour the moon, Zuckerberg's living room, and - prepare to shake your head - hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.

Even more gutsy, the duo started off the virtual reality showcase in Puerto Rico, eagerly talking about Facebook's relief efforts on the island. Zuckerberg and Franklin, safe on dry mainland soil, appeared as cartoon torsos floating above flooded buildings, clumsily high-fiving while talking way too much about the "magic" of the new Facebook Spaces.

In demonstrating new virtual reality tech, Facebook's mastermind showed that the future will be tone-deaf, apparently.

      Enjoy the new open office!

First there were individual offices. Then cubicles and open floor plans. Now, there is a "palette of places."

New office designs are coming to a workplace near you, with layouts meant to cater to the variety of tasks required of modern white-collar workers. Put another way, it means people don't sit in just one place.

In addition to being utterly disgusting work, de-ragging a pump more frequently than necessary shortens the life of the motor, drive and impeller. And pumps are fuck-all expensive to replace.

They're only "flushable" in the sense that flushing one or two won't back up the toilet into your house. In every other respect, they are fully incompatible with wastewater treatment systems, and behave more like washcloths than toilet paper.

    • Target raising its minimum employee wage to $15/hour
exactly. it will attract more middle-aged uneducated nigger applicants, the opposite of a "top quality staff"

i hate shopping at safeway because safeway has a lot of nigger cashiers who have attitude problems and seem to think bagging groceries is beneath them. stores like whole foods, trader joe's, nob hill, etc dod not have this problem. because of this, i MIGHT shop safeway maybe once every three months or so, and only when they have some kind of great deal happening (like $.69/lb butterball turkeys, etc)

target will attract exactly the same sort of entitled nigger staff with a $15/hr wage, and it will ultimately cost them when customers like me take their business elsewhere after a few instances of cashier attitude problems.

The people who run nascar made some stupid mistakes. The most obvious one is they diluted their product. Any weekend you can find a gazillion nascar talking head shows and a variety of nascar races on tv. I have no clue what the hell a truck series, camper series or any number of other nascar racing series are.

There's too much product out there.

Wenner and his wife separated in 1995, though Jane Wenner still remains a vice president of Wenner Media. She and Wenner have three sons, Alexander Jann, Theodore "Theo" Simon, and Edward Augustus, known as Gus, head of Wenner Media's digital operations.

Since 1995, Wenner's domestic partner has been Matt Nye, a fashion designer. Together, Wenner and Nye have three adopted children, Noah and twins Jude & India Rose."

    • Bloomberg:_How much is Trump worth to Twitter?
Without Donald Trump, Twitter Inc. could lose almost a fifth of its value.

That's the conclusion of Monness Crespi Hardt & Co. analyst James Cakmak, who said that the social media company would see as much as $2 billion in market value wiped out if @realDonaldTrump quit tweeting.

      I want a 2008 to buy a better house.

In 2008 I also had zero debt and was living way below my means. My IRA took a hit but I was 30 years old so it did not keep me up at night.

Right now home prices are still artificially high because lending standards are too low and foreign investors are buying housing to hold and resell.

A total collapse would help ordinary people in the long term. Housing prices will get back to a correct ratio compared to average income levels.

Yes, but they have the money to waste on a super expensive hobby. Sadly, you're not gonna make it just selling good/cheap cattle feed and fence posts. Stock wherever the local yuppie fad is, alpaca shampoo, iguana bedding, llama suppositories.
