    • MAGATS: The TPP continues without the US
DANANG, Vietnam (AP) - In a major breakthrough, trade ministers from 11 Pacific Rim countries said they reached a deal Saturday to proceed with the free-trade Trans-Pacific Partnership deal that was in doubt after President Donald Trump abandoned it.

A statement issued in the early hours Saturday said an accord was reached on "core elements" of the 11-member pact. The compromise was delayed by last-minute disagreements that prevented the TPP leaders from meeting to endorse a plan on Friday.

    • EPA terminates Obong's climate nonsense! Ha!
Speaking Monday in the coal-mining state of Kentucky, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said he would be issuing a new set of rules overriding the Clean Power Plan, the centerpiece of President Barack Obama's drive to curb global climate change.

"The war on coal is over," Pruitt declared, adding that no federal agency should ever use its authority to "declare war on any sector of our economy."

The Obama administration had issued its climate rules without congressional approval.

    • Statement from National Trust for Historic Preservation President and CEO Stephanie Meeks
Statement on Confederate Memorials: Confronting Difficult History

In recent months, many communities have been vigorously debating anew the impact, meaning, and propriety of Confederate memorials and symbols in the public space. We have received questions from across the political spectrum about our stance on this.

At the National Trust, we believe that historic preservation requires taking our history seriously. We have an obligation to confront the complex and difficult chapters of our past, and to recognize the many ways that our understanding, and characterization, of our shared American story continues to shape our present and future.

That goes for the Civil War, our nation's bloodiest and most divisive conflict, as well. There are currently hundreds of monuments to the Confederate cause in America. They exist in 31 states, including far-flung places such as Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Montana. Schools and streets all over America bear Confederate names.

    • Welp, I've finally found something to complain about concerning President Trump.
The stuff he said about attorney general Jeff Sessions, to the NY Times no less, was a bit of a 'wtf' moment.

I'm definitely not jumping off the Trump train as this was only his first mistake while in office, but he's got to understand that there has been no stronger supporter of his agenda than Mr. Sessions. He had legitimate reasons for complaining about deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein who, after Sessions recused himself from the Russia nonsense, immediately appointed a special prosecutor. Rosenstein should have been fired. The guy is NOT a Trump supporter in any way.

I don't like some of the people who are whispering in the President's ear. He's getting bad advice from them.

    • Conservatard Think Tank: 50% of Trump's tax cuts would benefit 1% of taxpayers
      http://thehill.com/policy/finance/341651-trump-like-tax-plan-would-cost-trillions-analysis

The tax cuts described in the White House's April plan include cutting the top individual tax rate from 39.6 percent to 35 percent and lowering the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 15 percent. Businesses whose income is currently taxed through the individual code would also be eligible for the 15-percent rate.

The White House's plan would also repeal the alternative minimum tax, the estate tax and ObamaCare's net investment income tax...

The White House said that it would do away with itemized deductions including mortgage interest and charitable giving... repealing the head of household filing status and personal exemptions.

    • AMERICA was FOUNDED on the PRINCIPLES of DISSENT
The STATE of NEW YORK amounts to about 3% of the LANDMASS of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA! Hence, the BOSTON TEA PARTY, WAR with ENGLAND, and AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE!

3% of the average HUMAN BEING amounts to about 5-FINGERS, or 9-TOES!

3% is a lot when you thinks about it in those TERMS!
